Upper School Co-curriculars

Our Eagle Fan club is our student-led cheering section for our athletics. This group of students creates a positive and enthusiastic school atmosphere at our athletic events by organizing student participation. These students always bring great energy for our student athletes.

It is our goal at SouthLake Christian to provide opportunities for our students in Upper School to pursue and develop leadership, interests, and talents both in and beyond the classroom. One was is by serving on the Student Leadership Council. Class representatives for the Student Leadership Council are elected from all US grades.

Clubs in the Upper School are student-led and do vary from year to year as interest in student leaders shifts, with that being said there are some clubs which are annual each year.

• BETA Club As the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America, National Beta is dedicated to leading by serving others. Our four pillars are the perfect summation of the core of National Beta. The Beta community recognizes high academic achievement, rewards and nurtures worthy character, fosters leadership skills, and encourages service to others. Being a Beta means being a part of a community of leaders who are positively impacting the world.

• National Honor Society
  • Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students. These purposes translate into the criteria used for membership selection in our Charlotte chapter
• Crown & anchor Discipleship Club
  • Upper School females who have a passion to follow Christ discuss biblical topics, become disciples of Christ, and learn to mentor others. The club meets every week during lunch, and this club does not require service hours.
• Student Mission Fellowship
  • Locally, Student Mission Fellowship supports Operation Christmas Child, partners with Caterpillar Ministries. SMF leads the school's efforts to serve Huntersville's Caterpillar Ministries in the following ways:
    • Toy Drive for Caterpillar Christmas Store
    • Coordinating Happy Birthday Jesus Gift Bags
    • Giving Tree Fundraiser
    • Tutoring
    • Food drive
• Stem Club
  • The STEM Club aims to prepare students for college and the workforce by providing insight into STEM careers and majors. This is accomplished through the STEM Club’s presentations of different STEM topics, as well as STEM-related activities. Students in the Upper School can attend the program every blue Wednesday during lunch. This club has no service requirements.
• Chess Club
  • The Chess Club is designed to provide a social and educational experience outside of the classroom. It nurtures critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to execute complex ideas. It also fosters sportsmanship. The club meets Tuesdays at 3:15pm. 
• Speech & Debate Club 
  • The Speech and Debate Club teaches students professional debate. They will learn to hold well-reasoned debates with their peers with the goal of competing at a state and national level. Students will build their critical thinking and research skills, and confidence in public speaking. The club meets every other Monday at 7:00 am.
