PTF Partnership With Families
PTF Partnership With Families
Education at SouthLake Christian Academy is a partnership between families and the school. The PTF serves as a resource to parents and guardians, as well as teachers and staff.
The SouthLake Christian Parent-Teacher Fellowship works across all divisions to foster a spirit of community and partners with employees to support the community. There is an executive council, grade-level representatives, and event coordinators all of whom are current parents or guardians. Current families receive regular communications from the PTF about upcoming school-wide events, grade-level activities, and volunteer opportunities.
PTF INVOLVEMENT
School-Wide Events
The PTF takes the lead on events such as the Spring Festival and works closely with teachers and staff on the many details of the following:
- Back to School Lunch for Staff.
- Annual fundraising and organizing for the Staff Christmas Dinner.
- Provides snacks for both the middle and upper school during exam weeks for each semester.
- Birthday treats and coffee of the month for all faculty and staff.
- Assists with budgets for room parents (JK-4) for classes to use for class needs.
- Provides funds to be used for the end of year treats in the upper school.
Past celebrations have included live music, performances, dances, student-led projects, and food trucks. PTF representatives and other volunteers also support the school’s Open House event in October, as well as the Gala and Auction in March.
Grade Level Social Coordinators
The Parent-Teacher Fellowship is in the process of appointing social coordinators for grades 5 through 12, who will be responsible for arranging social gatherings specific to each grade. Keep an eye out for more information on this fantastic opportunity to connect and mingle.
GET INVOLVED WITH THE PTF
Each year, the PTF is planning to organize a meeting for the entire school at both the start and finish of the academic year. There are ways for current parents and guardians to get involved with the PTF, either in volunteering for an event or becoming a PTF member. To see how you can get involved, contact information for all current PTF members is available for families.
OTHER WAYS TO STAY INFORMED
Parents and guardians receive weekly divisional newsletters and regular updates from administrative and divisional leadership and teachers. Visibility into school-wide initiatives and activities is provided through these newsletters, the school calendar (via the app and the website), the SLCA magazine, and social media (Facebook and Instagram).
