Theatre Arts

Drama is a creative and effective tool for communicating history, literature and values in a memorable and entertaining way. At SouthLake Christian, students are introduced to drama in the lower school through class presentations where students demonstrate what they have learned in short plays and skits. This educational practice helps to make learning fun. As students get older they have the opportunity to expand their involvement through more intense class presentations in the curriculum and through larger productions for entertainment.

Each spring the upper school presents a major theatrical production that allows students a variety of experiences including stage performance, set design, technical theater (lights and sound), costuming and stage direction. Past productions have included Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz, Bye Bye Birdie, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Seussical, and Sound of Music.

Our upper school theatre productions have also garnered acclaim from the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center's Blumey Awards.
