CRAFT & FUN CAMP (Rising 1st-6th grade) June 4 - 8 9:00 AM-12:00 PM and/or 1:00 PM-4:00 PM NOTE: 1st-6th graders can attend either session, whichever is most convenient

Join us for a week of fun... make awesome arts and crafts projects and play games! Our history of making crafts and fun makes this one of SL's favorite camps!

We have sculpted and erupted volcanoes, hammered nails to create string art masterpieces, built slingshots and targets, used duct tape to make flying boomerangs, mixed kinetic sand to build castles, designed teepees and toasted s'mores, etc. There are MANY more spectacular and new projects planned for 2018 CRAFT & FUN CAMP! Plan a week of daily devotions, games, play, story time, and making awesome crafts for your child by registering soon.

EAGLEBOTS BEGINNER ROBOTICS CAMP (Rising 1-3 grade) June 11-15 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Do you love robots? Join us for an exciting Robotics Summer Camp! Learn to create and use Lego robots, Dash and Dot robots, and the Beebot. Along with learning to build robots, we will be learning to control them by learning robot coding. All robotics supplies will be provided for the week and participants will receive an Eaglebots t-shirt. We cannot wait to see what you create!

EAGLEBOTS INTERMEDIATE ROBOTICS CAMP (Rising 4-6 grades) June 11-15 1:00 PM-4:00 PM

Come spend a week with robots! We will first learn robotics with Dash and Dot. Participants in this camp will be encouraged to join the Dash and Dot Competition Team in the fall. Also, we will spend part of the week learning our new EV3 Lego Robots. Participants will learn to build and program these awesome robots and will be encouraged to join the SLCA Middle School Robotics Club and Competition Team when they reach 7th grade. All robotics supplies will be provided for the week and participants will receive an Eaglebots t-shirt. We cannot wait to see what you create!

JEFA: JUNIOR EAGLES FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (JEFA) ages 7-12 July 16-20 9:00 AM -12:00 PM

 

SouthLake Christian Academy founded the Junior Eagles sports ministry in 2005 with the purpose of providing Lake Norman's youth with programs that teach players the fundamentals of team sports while incorporating Christian principles. The Junior Eagles leagues are open to all families in the Lake Norman area. Junior Eagles currently administers JEFA (Jr. Eagle Football Association). Join the directors and coaches from SouthLake’s popular Junior Eagles Football Association for a week of football instruction and fun on the turf field. The format for this camp is 7-on-7 flag football, with periods of instruction and daily competitions. Camp will conclude with Championship Friday, where parents are encouraged to attend. JEFA camp is run by Michael Causey, Head Football Coach for the three-time state champion SouthLake Eagles varsity football team. Each camper receives a camp T-shirt. Water breaks are scheduled every hour, and an on-site concessions stand is available for water and Gatorade.

JEBA: JUNIOR EAGLES BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION (JEBA) ages 6 - 15 June 25-29 and/or July 23-27 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM for ages 6 – 9 and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM for ages 10-15

JEMA: JUNIOR EAGLES WRESTLING ASSOCIATION (JEMA)

Dates: June 18th-22nd

Rising 3rd-5th graders 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Rising 6th-8th graders 1:00-3:00 pm.

Where: Wrestling room in the basement of Hampton Hall

Need a minimum of 6 per session.

Join our Head Varsity coach, Nathan Simpson, and some of the Varsity wrestlers for an exciting week of wrestling instruction. The campers in 3rd-5thgrade will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of folkstyle wrestling. The final day of the camp the campers will compete in a takedown tournament which parents are encouraged to attend. The campers in the 6th-8th grade session will be introduced to the basics of folkstyle wrestling and will also move on to some more advanced techniques. Each camper will receive a T-shirt for their participation. The campers should bring a refillable water bottle with them to camp.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CAMP (rising 6-8 grades) June 12-14 9:00 AM – noon

Air conditioned gym with two courts and highly trained coaches including myself with 15 years of experience and current and former College Volleyball Players. This camp will help you get prepared for college camps and your Middle school season coming up in the fall. We will train all skills of the game and help you be a more consistent player in all skills of the game. See you in the gym. Bring a water bottle and a snack.

We’ll divide into two groups and split morning and afternoon activities with lunch. Camp will run from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM Monday-Friday. Bag lunch is needed.

Join Miss Davis and Miss Clemmer as you refine math, reading, and grammar skills in an active, small-group, hands-on learning environment. This is a great time to engage your mind on what you have learned in class, and make sure you are activating your mind over the summer! Space is limited to 20 students. We’ll divide into two groups and split morning and afternoon activities with lunch. Camp will run from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM Monday-Friday. Bag lunch is needed. There is a minimum of 6 students needed.

KIDS CAN COOK! COOKING CAMP II (Intermediate) - grade 4-6 June 11-15 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

KIDS CAN COOK! COOKING CAMP I (Beginner) - grade 1-3 June 11-15 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Last year we explored the world of food as we assembled dishes from different countries. This year, we will keep it closer to home as we discover and prepare dishes from a different region of the USA each day. Campers will have a chance to practice age-appropriate culinary skills and kitchen safety as well as expand their palate as we prepare and enjoy kid-friendly foods from around the world. The week will culminate in a meal served to parents by the chefs themselves!

Canvas Painting June 18th-22nd Rising 3rd-5th Graders 9am-11am, Rising 6th-8th Graders 1pm-3pm

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint on canvas? Have you ever seen a painting and thought, how did they create that? If this sounds like you, then make plans now to join us for a beginners canvas painting camp this summer. We will offer two different age groups, 3rd-5th grade and 6th-8th. Each student will create five canvas paintings that they will take home throughout the week. The cost is $200. All supplies and refreshments will be provided. No experience is needed, you'll learn what you need to know through the week. This is open to anyone, not just Southlake students so invite your friends to join us!

Beginner’s Drum Camp (Grade 2nd-5th) July 16-20 1pm- 4 pm

 

Have you ever wanted to play the drums? Do you love making noise? Come join us for our Beginner’s Drum Camp. This exciting camp is designed to inspire students to create rhythms, read basic drum parts, and collaborate with other players. During the week, you will learn the basics of rhythm, foundational beats in music, and rudimentary exercises while playing in a drum circle. Participants will be given a set of drum sticks and a bucket drum for practice. All other materials will be provided by the teacher.

Intermediate Drum Camp (Grades 6-12th) July 16-20 9am-12pm

 

Are you a musician that is wanting to diversify your rhythmic ability? Come join us for the Intermediate Drum Camp. During the week, we will work within various styles of rhythm, play with various percussion instruments, and implement different beats in a drum circle. All participants will be given a Cajon (box drum) which will be used throughout the week. All drum sets and or percussion toys you have are welcome!

"SEW” CAN YOU CAMP! (Rising 2-8 grade) June 25-29 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Ms. Beam (1st grade teacher) is "sew" excited to offer sewing camp this year!  The camp will be a basic introduction to all things sewing.  We will learn about the basics of the sewing machine, its feet, and stitches.  We will sew a simple project and also make some additional "no sew" fabric items like a fleece tie pillow.  No sewing experience or machine required.  We will have a sewing machine on hand to share.   Camp will be "sew" much fun!

MATH CAMP / ALGEBRA II (rising Algebra II Students) July 16-19 1:00-3:00PM

Sharpen your algebra skills this summer before starting Algebra II.  Topics reviewed will include graphing linear equations, inequalities, and systems, factoring and solving quadratic equations, graphing quadratics, and some calculator basics with the TI-84 plus.  Each session will cover one main topic. A break with a snack included.

Proof Pirates: Finding the Treasure of Gods Amazing Grace PROOF Pirates introduces kids to God’s amazing grace through a five-day, pirate-themed curriculum for use in Bible clubs and Vacation Bible School. It explains the doctrines of grace using the popular PROOF acronym with the book of Ephesians (God’s grace is Planned, Resurrecting, Outrageous, Overcoming, and Forever) so kids know that it is not their performance that makes them right with God.
