Meet The Coaches
Coach Farley has a significant impact on the SouthLake campus. When Farley became part of SouthLake, he took on the role of JV baseball coach while also working as a physical education teacher at the middle school level. His dedication, combined with his unique coaching techniques, saw him rise to the position of head coach for both the varsity football and baseball teams.
For over a decade, he has dedicated himself to mentoring and shaping the next generation of athletes, imparting not just the skills necessary for success in sports, but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline. As the assistant coach for the varsity baseball team, the team clinched conference titles in both 2017 and 2018. In 2022, Coach Farley, as the head coach, guided the team to clinch the conference title and finish as the runner-up in the state championship.
Farley's athletic journey began when he was drafted right out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals. His talent further blossomed during his two-year stint at Brevard Junior College. His baseball expertise didn't stop there. Farley went on to represent NC A&T University and even played for Team USA against Japan in the prestigious Tokyo Dome. Coach Farley, a former Lincolnton High School baseball and football All-State performer was inducted into the LCSHOF in November 2021.
As we celebrate Coach Farley's achievements, let's also take a moment to learn from his journey. Remember, success is not just about winning; it's about the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the character built along the way.
Coach Wiggins' football journey has been marked by both triumph and adversity. His time at Independence High School in Charlotte, NC, coincided with a remarkable period of dominance for the school's football program, which achieved a remarkable 109-game winning streak and secured three state titles during his tenure. Brelend's individual achievements, including all-conference honors in his junior and senior years, showcased his talent and dedication to the sport.However, Brelend's playing career was cut short due to a spinal injury suffered during his junior year, highlighting the unpredictable nature of sports and the importance of resilience in overcoming challenges.Transitioning to coaching, Brelend has continued to make significant contributions to the football community. As the director of the Sports Mode one 7-on-7 program in 2023 and 2024, he plays a key role in developing young athletes' skills and fostering a competitive environment.
His coaching roles at SouthLake Christian, including head coach of the middle school team and varsity wide receivers coach in 2023, and offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the varsity team in 2024, demonstrate his leadership and strategic acumen on the sidelines. Overall, Brelend Wiggins' journey from high school standout to influential coach exemplifies the resilience, dedication, and passion that define the football community. Despite facing setbacks, he has found new ways to contribute to the sport and inspire others, leaving a lasting legacy both on and off the field.
Coach Bradley Hicks was raised in Charlotte, NC, and graduated from Harding University High School in 2010. His life has been deeply rooted in sports, having played football from ages 6 to 20. He continued his journey in athletics at Shaw University and have spent the last 6 years coaching. Currently, he is in his second year at SouthLake Christian, where he also serves as the Study Hall Coordinator. Outside of work, he and his wife Destine’ enjoy family time with their two children, Kylan and Chloe.
Coach Grosso brings two decades of coaching experience and a proven track record of success to SouthLake Christian. Prior to joining SouthLake, Coach Grosso served as the defensive coordinator at The Cannon School, culminating in a 2021 NCISAA State Championship season.
Before his tenure at The Cannon School, Coach Grosso held coaching positions in New York. He served as the head coach at Hastings High School, where he made a profound impact on the program and developed student-athletes both on and off the field. Prior to his tenure at Hastings Coach Grosso served as the defensive coordinator at Bronxville High School. In addition to his Head Coach and coordinator positions, Coach Grosso also impacted high schools in New York working as an assistant coach at Blind Brook High School and Archbishop Stepinac High School. Earlier in his coaching career, Coach Grosso served as a Head Coach in Pop Warner football in Eastchester, New York, where he cultivated a culture of discipline, teamwork, and hard work.
He also served two terms as president of the Eastchester Blue Devils Pop Warner football organization. His dedication to player development and his ability to inspire his teams have been hallmarks of his coaching philosophy throughout his career. Coach Grosso is known for his passion for the game, his commitment to mentoring young athletes, and his ability to instill a winning mentality in his players. His coaching journey is marked by a commitment to excellence, a deep understanding of the game, and a relentless pursuit of success both on and off the field.
Coach Grosso is married to his beautiful wife Kelli and together they have two children Kayleigh and Christopher. All of the above could not be possible if not for the unwavering support of his wife and children.
