School Board
SouthLake Christian Academy is a private, co-educational school, governed by a Board of Trustees. Members of the parent body, alumni, greater community, and past faculty are represented on the SouthLake Christian Academy School board. The board works to ensure that SouthLake Christian remains financially stable, fiscally responsible, forward-thinking, and adherent to its mission and core values.

Board Members
Dr. Amy Alexanian is the proud mother of three children - Maddie, a graduate SouthLake, David, a current 10th-grade student, and Anthony, a current 8th-grade student. She is a Board Certified Family Medicine Specialist with more than 20 years of experience, currently practicing at Novant Health in Cornelius, NC. Through the years, Dr. Alexanian has treated many SouthLake students, families, and employees.
Dr. Alexanian has served SouthLake Christian Academy as a long-time lunch volunteer, a math superstar classroom grader, assistant room mom, prayer partner, and medical provider for Upper School and Middle School Windy Gap retreats. Dr. Alexanian has also served as a member of the School Board's Clinical Task Force, providing COVID updates and medical advice to school administration. Dr. Alexanian's husband, Aram, is also a medical doctor with Novant Health.
Ken Barna is a mechanical engineer by training but has served most of his professional career in management. For over 30 years, he has been in a service capacity in the fossil fuel industry locally, nationally, and internationally. Ken and his wife Lisa have been married for 34 years. They have 4 adult children and have recently become grandparents. They have been members of SouthLake Presbyterian Church for 22 years. Ken currently serves as a deacon and Head of Finance for SouthLake Presbyterian Church. Ken has also served as a Scout Master and Cub Master for Troop 313 for more than 10 years.
Jed Belvin is a sales executive with RR Donnelley, one of the largest print and marketing communications companies is the country. He has been at RR Donnelley for over 30 years starting right after he graduated from Furman University with a BA in Economics. His wife Audrey has been a seventh grade teacher at the Academy for the last 6 years. They are proud that both of their boys graduated from Southlake in 2019 and 2022, and are currently attending Anderson University and Clemson University.
Jed has been a member at SouthLake Church for over 14 years and serves as an Elder on the Session, as well as a member of the Missions committee. He also serves on the presbytery RUF committee that oversees the RUF ministry at Davidson College. This is Jed’s second term on the school board with his prior term ending in 2019.
Dr. Hank Capps, M.D. is a family physician and the Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer at Wellstar Health System headquartered in Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Capps is the father of two SouthLake students - Lindsay (class of 2021) and Austin (class of 2025). He is serving his second term on the School Board, his prior term ending in 2019.
He served for two years as a member of the Clinical Task Force, advising the school on matters related to public health during the COVID pandemic. He also served as a member of the Documents Review Committee, helping the Academy review and revise school bylaws. Dr. Capps brings immeasurable leadership experience to the Board, along with a deep understanding of proper board governance.
Greg Long is an architect by profession with over 30 years of experience. He serves as Executive Director of Design and Construction for Central Piedmont Community College, overseeing design and facilities construction for the college, a position he’s held since 2014.
Greg and his wife Bobbie have been married for 34 years and are parents of 3 adult children, all of whom attended SouthLake Christian Academy. He served for 10 years as a Cub Scout leader. Greg currently serves as a deacon at SouthLake Presbyterian Church and has been a member for 23 years.
Greg brings considerable professional experience to his service of the Academy. In the summer of 2021, he conducted an analysis of all campus facilities, examining structural and mechanical systems to help finalize a plan for budgeting and completing deferred maintenance.
Kim Sailors is married to Mark Sailors and is the proud mom of Taylor and Harrison Walls, both of whom attended SouthLake from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Kim has served the SouthLake community for over 17 years as room mom, prayer partner, math superstar lead, PTF volunteer, lunch room volunteer, football and lacrosse team mom, cheer coach, prom committee, homecoming committee, football theme organizer, assistant leadership for middle and high school Windy Gap retreats , senior legacy gift organizer, Strategic Planning Committee, Field Committee, and much more.
Professionally, Kim is the owner of Blythe Landing Self Storage, Carr Girls, and T & H, Inc. Kim is very humbled to be able to continue her service to SouthLake Christian Academy as a member of the School Board.
Jake Slavic is a 2007 SouthLake Christian Academy (SLCA) alumnus and the first of which to serve as an SLCA Board Member. Jake met his wife, Rachel, at SLCA and has been married for 10 years. Jake and Rachel have been blessed with four children and are members of SouthLake Presbyterian Church.
Professionally, Jake provides strategy, financial, and development advisory services to non-profit senior living organizations across the country and hopes to leverage this experience for the betterment of SLCA.
