ABOUT

Welcome To SouthLake

SouthLake Christian Academy was founded in 1994 as a ministry of SouthLake Presbyterian (PCA) Church. SouthLake students are taught the gospel of Jesus Christ through daily Bible instruction and through the integration of biblical principles into every school endeavor. It is our hope that each student and family comes to know Christ as Lord and Savior.

We accept students from all backgrounds and our school population reflects the religious, socio-economic, racial, and ethnic diversity of the Charlotte community. Our hope is to meet your family’s immediate need by offering a challenging college-preparatory education in a Christian environment.

SouthLake Christian provides an accelerated curriculum that prepares graduates to excel in their chosen field of study in college. Our 35 athletic teams offer competitive programs for middle and high school students, and our fine arts program develops students in the visual, musical and theater arts. Our missions and community service programs provides outreach opportunities for students to engage with our community, our nation, and our world.

SouthLake Christian is accredited by Cognia, a K-12 division of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Additional accreditation is held by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

A Message From The Head of School

Dr. Kerlin, Head of School

I have the best job in the world. As Head of School, I have the opportunity to watch brilliant teachers shape growing minds, to see talented students learn and serve our community, and to see our school embrace and advance our Christian mission to education and disciple students in all aspects of God’s reality.

There are three things that make SouthLake Christian Academy unique in the educational landscape of north Charlotte. First, this is a quality school, with standardized test scores and college placement credentials that are higher than North Carolina and national averages, at a cost that is well below average for private schools in the region. Second, our school is large enough to boast a breadth of educational, athletic, and artistic opportunities, yet small enough for teachers to know your name and your distinctive educational and spiritual needs. Third, we are committed without apology to our Christian mission. In short, we are a family providing superior education at an affordable price in the context of a caring Christian environment.

We would love to get to know you better and see how SouthLake Christian Academy might meet your educational needs. We have been blessed by God in order to be a blessing to you and others in our community. If you have any questions or would like more information about SouthLake, please feel free to contact us at admissions@southlakechristian.org. We look forward to getting to know you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Matthew S. Kerlin
Head of School
