SouthLake Christian Academy believes that the inspirational talents of our educational leaders are essential to our mission. We have been blessed with a talented leader serving our school for six years. On December 14, 2023, Head of School Dr. Matt Kerlin announced that he is concluding his service as Head of School at the end of our 2023-24 school year.
 
It is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to recommend for hire, support, and evaluate its sole employee, the Head of School. The Board will meet with finalists and review, then act on, the recommendation from the Search Committee. The Board’s primary role is to advance the mission of SouthLake Christian Academy and ensure the long-term viability and health of the school. Once the Board of Trustees has voted on a final candidate, that candidate is referred to the SouthLake Church Session for review & hiring. SEARCH CONSULTANTS

The Board of Trustees and Head of School Search Committee is very pleased to partner with Tracy Bennett from Educators Collaborative, LLC in the effort to identify SouthLake Christian Academy's next Head of School. 

The Search Process

In April 2024, the Board initiated a thorough, national search for our next Head of School who will assume duties for the 2025–26 school year. 
 
  • A seven-member Search Committee has been assembled to spearhead this important endeavor. Leading the committee is Tadd Morganti, having not only experience serving on other boards, but specifically in conducting those organizations executive searches, and Kim Sailors, whose executive committee service and strong community ties enrich our efforts. 
  • After careful consideration of various firms and drawing on insights from past experiences, the Search Committee selected Educators Collaborative, LLC. Their expertise and industry connections will aid us in conducting a dynamic, thorough, and inclusive process, aiming to attract a diverse array of talented candidates while ensuring the right match for our school.

The Search Committee

Members of the search committee vet, interview, and evaluate candidates that are referred to them by the search consultants and then, after receiving input from the community, make a recommendation to the full Board of Trustees on whom to recommend to hire as the next Head of School. After a full Board vote, the final candidate is then presented to SouthLake Church Session.

Like most independent schools, SouthLake Christian will engage in a thoughtful and deliberate search over the next six months. We anticipate the following timeline:
