2009 Upper School Summer Skills

Core Course schedules have been posted for grades 9 through 12 on Edline. Go to your student’s Private Reports and click on 2009-2010 Core Course Schedule. These schedules reflect the courses you and your student requested and/or for which your student met the requirements following a review of the grades earned for second semester. This should eliminate the need for schedule changes; however, if you or your student feels a scheduling error has been made, you may complete a Course Drop/Add Form. (See below.) These forms are available on Edline or follow the Course Drop/Add Form hyperlink.

Core course schedules for grades 7 and 8 will not be posted until later in the summer. However, Summer Assignments for English 7 and 8 can be found to the right..

Summer Assignments are a way to best prepare students for the next year’s work, especially in upper level courses. Once you have reviewed your schedule, see below for your specific Summer Assignments. If you are enrolled in courses that require summer work, know that you are responsible for having the work completed on the first day of school, Monday, August 10, 2009, and these assignments will be reflected in your first quarter grades. Assignments turned in late will be subject to SLCA late assignment grade reductions.

REMEMBER: Students are to complete the assignments as given. Use of Cliff Notes, Spark Notes, or abridged versions of Literature is not acceptable. Their use can severely limit a student’s full comprehension and understanding, and therefore, compromise their assessments.

Course Drop/Add Form
Forms are also available at the Upper School Office, and must be submitted to the Upper School office personnel between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Course Drop/Add Forms cannot be accepted online, via FAX, or by regular mail, and any submitted in these ways will be considered void. Forms for Core Course Drop/Add changes will be accepted until 2 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2009.
