That Christ may be preeminent in all things

Visual Arts

Visual arts are a reflection of the society in which it is created and allows the sharing of images and ideas from generation to generation. Visual arts communicate about culture, society, and history and give purpose to learning; they provide tools for interpreting life's experiences and help student's understand the importance and influence of artistic expression.

Younger students learn exploring their own creative sense while studying the foundations of visual art. As our students mature, emphasis is placed on artistic excellence and enjoyment. In Middle School, students begin to study the foundations of specific art forms and mediums while Upper School students study more complex forms and mediums while exploring how visual art can be used to communicate spiritual and secular ideas and expressions. An emphasis is placed on creative problem solving skills by looking at individual parts as they relate to the piece as a whole. These skills can be used in all aspects of life.

Our student artwork is proudly displayed on the walls of the school buildings throughout the school year. Students also have the opportunity to display their artistic talents at selected art shows and by working on sets for the annual play. Art is an essential part of the SouthLake Christian Academy curriculum.

"...We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." II Corinthians 10:5

SouthLake Christian Academy exists for the sake of God's glory and mission; proclaiming the gospel and discipling the whole person in all aspects of God's reality.
